Hey guys and welcome back to another blog post. Today we are going to be talking about tiktok and how you can use it to market your business, market for your clients and how to create a successful video. For those who have been living under a rock, TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short videos. The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across a community.
One thing's for sure, the power of TikTok cannot be underestimated. Besides being the procrastination tool of choice for many a teen, the app has had a profound impact on sound and culture in the modern world and even savvy businesses everywhere are looking to get in on the action through TikTok marketing.
TikTok marketing is the practice of using TikTok to promote a brand, product or service. It can include different tactics, like influencer marketing, TikTok advertising and creating organic viral content using trending sounds, dances and challenges. TikTok marketing can help you increase brand awareness, build engaged communities, sell products and services and advertise products and services to a variety of audiences. So how do you make a successful tiktok?
I’ve created 3 main points on how to make and market a video to success on tiktok
1) People go on tiktok to either laugh, stay up with trends, learn or procrastinate, not to be sold to. Play that to your strength, if you have products to sell, do silly things with them, show people cool tricks with them and of course make it worth watching.
2) Tiktok is all about authenticity, unlike instagram and Facebook we are used to pro style videos of brands for Tiktok is all about the inner workings of brands and personality. Have a cool office? Show everyone your desk, show everyone the weird things in the office, what’s your normal day to day like? What’s the system you're on?
For example, There’s a huge trend at the moment “things in my office that just make sense”, every business should jump on trends like this.
Have a project you're making? People care more about the process than the after product on Tiktok, show the idea, show the creation, show the inspiration, show the tech used, show the blueprint.
Have a product? How it’s used, ASMR, facts, why certain colours are used, where can you use it, how does it feel using it and why
Making a film? Talk about the cast, crew, why it was hard, what was fun, best moment? Worst moment? How to draw, why storyboards are used, why the camera you're using, why the lenses, comparisons, script writing, filming shoot days. The process is just as important as the result with marketing as it adds familiarity, honesty and transparency and lets the audience bond and trust the brand or product.
3)Hooks and first impressions are everything. When you're on tiktok you have a second before someone chooses to scroll away so you NEED to make that count. The text you use on the clip is insanely important “5 reason for this” “this is how I did this” “what is this” “3 tips on” these are amazing hooks because 1) the viewer could be interested in the outcome and they’ll stick around for it 2) Adding text and setting custom durations can help you tell a story. And, many viewers actually watch videos without sound, so using text on your TikTok is an incredible way to catch your audience's attention
4) You should always TRY and use yourself to tell a story, connect with people. So if they see a selfie of a human telling a story - especially for a brand they’ll connect instantly and put a face to the company and again of course when you're scrolling and you see just text trying to tell you why you should use this service, you’ll INSTANTLY scroll.
So:
Personality, humor, attention grabbing, and authenticity. These are the few points that I feel have a massive contribution to getting your tiktok on the correct algorithm giving it the best chance of success in genereal and for marketing. So try it! What have you got to lose?
Until next time,
